Overview of Lung Cancer Malignant tissue growth in the lung, affecting the bronchial tubes and lungs. It can also spread to the larynx, liver, brain, bones and kidneys. It occurs in adults of both sexes, usually between ages 40 and 70. Lung cancer causes more deaths than any other form of cancer. The incidence is increasing and is related almost exclusively to cigarette smoking.
Causes of Lung Cancer Causes include: cigarette smoking, air pollution, unknown, asbestos exposure, spread of cancer from somewhere else in the body, chronic interstitial pneumonitis, and radon gas.
Signs and Symptoms of Lung Cancer Symptoms include: persistent cough, bloody sputum, wheezing, chest pain, fatigue, weakness, weight loss, shoulder, arm, or bone pain, and sometimes, no symptoms.
